Library Mezzanine Guardrail System
Project Overview
Mezzanine guardrail with a wood top rail and slim metal infill installed around the open balcony levels of a public library reading room.
Analysis
The guard had to match the existing oak trim while closing a large open mezzanine. A wood cap over steel infill panels kept the original architectural character.
Process
Survey of each bay, shop fabrication, phased installation to keep the library open, and final finish touch-up.
Outcome
A code-compliant guard that looks original to the building and preserves the view across the reading room.
